🏆 About the Supplier — two brands, two production methods. This collection carries plants under two labels from the same German house, and they are not produced the same way.

Frosch® — own production. Described by the nursery as "own production, exclusive, top quality": grown outdoors under organic plant protection, therefore vigorous and healthy, with extra-long roots. The rhizomes store well and travel well. Frosch® clone plants are true clones — each plant matches its photograph. 7 items here are Frosch® own production: Frosch's Cutie, Frosch's Harlequin, Frosch's Mother Earth, Frosch's Queen of the Mist, Frosch's Ulla Spots, Surprise, Christian.

HardyOrchid® — distributed brand. Described by the nursery as "merchandise, exclusive, high quality": these are grown under glass with conventional plant protection — which produces more shoots, but makes the plants more sensitive, and the rhizomes can only be stored for a short time. They are excellent plants and represent very good value, but they have not been hardened off outdoors the way the Frosch® material has, so give them a gentler first season. 10 items here are HardyOrchid®: fasciolatum x Aki Pastel, Lucy Pinkepank, Michael Pastel, Philipp, Philipp dark, Ventricosum Pastel, Victoria, formosanum, kentuckiense, californicum.

Everything offered is nursery-propagated from seed or cloned, never wild-collected.

🌡️ These are outdoor garden perennials — but please check hardiness before you choose. Cypripedium are hardy terrestrial orchids: planted in the open ground, fully dormant over winter, returning each spring. They cannot be grown indoors.

German hardiness ratings do not transfer directly to Canada. Germany has a milder, more maritime winter than most of this country. A variety sold as fully hardy there is not automatically reliable here. Toronto sits around Canadian hardiness zone 6b, and Richmond Hill, Markham and Vaughan around 6a — colder again as you move north or inland. Note also that the Canadian and USDA zone systems are not the same: the Canadian map factors in snow cover, rainfall, summer heat and wind, not just minimum temperature.

Hardiness varies widely between varieties. Some in this collection are dependable well below our winter lows; others are borderline in zone 6 and want a sheltered spot, sharp drainage, reliable snow cover or a winter mulch; a few are best treated as a trial. Freeze-thaw cycles and standing winter wet kill more Cypripedium here than cold does.

📖 About this preorder: this group preorder is hosted and run by OrchidMart. Frosch® is our supplier, not the host — you are buying from us, in Canadian dollars, from a Canadian store.

We provide the complete import service: placing and managing the order with the nursery in Germany, the CFIA import permit, phytosanitary certification, customs clearance and freight, order tracking and arrival updates, pickup and delivery coordination, and after-arrival support.

We take full responsibility for every item in this collection. An item may be cancelled if it turns out to be unavailable at the supplier, and we will also cancel an item if it arrives damaged or not as described. In either case you receive a full refund for that item — you do not carry the risk of a supplier shortfall or a bad arrival.

⚠️ Please read before you order:

You receive a dormant bare-root rhizome with resting buds and dry roots — not a leafed-out plant. This is the correct and normal shipping stage for hardy terrestrial orchids.
Autumn planting and winter chill are required. Plant on arrival. These will not survive as indoor plants.
First-season flowering is not guaranteed. Bud count follows the grade shipped by the nursery, and plants may skip flowering in their first season after transplant.
All sales are final. You cannot cancel or change a preorder once it has been submitted to the nursery. This is separate from the cancellations we initiate for supplier unavailability or a damaged arrival, which are refunded in full as described above.
